Fermín holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music from the Faculty of Music at the University of Sciences and Arts of Chiapas (FaMu-UNICACH). He earned a Master’s degree in Musicology, Music Education, and Early Music Performance from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the Catalonia College of Music (ESMUC).

He was a member of the UNICACH Symphony Orchestra and the Camerata String Ensemble. He has presented educational concerts in various venues throughout Chiapas as a soloist and as a member of several ensembles. Among his presentations, stands out «The Viola: From the Music of New Spain to Chiapas Folklore», supported by a grant from the Chiapas State Council for Culture and the Arts.

He has taught violin, viola, and orchestral ensemble, and served as an academic advisor in the Musical Initiation Course (CIM) at the UNICACH Faculty of Music. He also taught music at the Chiapas-Japan Cultural Alliance Workshops and at La Enseñanza (San Cristóbal de Las Casas). He conducted the CIM-FaMu-UNICACH String Orchestra and the Chiapas-Japan Cultural Alliance String Orchestra.

He composed music for the premiere of the play «Fragments of a Foggy Day» and for the credits of the short film «A Rainy Day». His latest work is Prisma, a musical triptych that weaves together melodies and harmonies of synthesizers, electric guitar and bass, string quintet, and drums.
